Digital Gallery 10-3

Having participated in the Open Studios Screening process for more than a few years and as Chair of the Open Studios Committee, I decided the screening panel needed some comic relief during the process, so I made up an all digital application, creating images & descriptions & studio shots, that as the viewing went on, became more apparent that the joke was on!   Enjoy!

Fake Open Studios Application for 2007

 

The screening panel had seen a number of slides by applicants where they had propped their canvas up against the side of a building, outdoor area, leaving the grass and a lot of other distracting things in the image.  A real "No-No".  One applicant had his work propped up against what looked like a Weber BBQ in the backyard, complete with weeds, etc.  So, I took it one step further:  I created a series of digital paintings based on a Weber BBQ, digitally created the canvasses, and then created the final digital image where it is propped up against the BBQ.
