I am an artist creating websites for other artists. I work closely with each individual artist so that their website reflects and represents more than just their artwork.
PROCESSING ARTWORK: Artwork incorporated into the website is either scanned from photographs, or photographed with a digital camera. I then work on each image, cleaning up backgrounds, sharpening, color correction, sometimes adding images of the artists themselves into the piece.
CONTENT: Many artist's already have some "bios" or artist statements written describing themselves and their work. If an artist doesn't readily have written content, I perform "interviews" to help gather this information.
ANIMATIONS: Inspiration usually strikes me in the form of an animation or two which enhance the artist's page. These animations reflect the artist's individuality and style.
THEMES AND BACKGROUNDS: Once I've gotten to know an artist and their work, I develop an overall unique "theme" for the site. This includes choices of different backgrounds, navigation buttons, fonts and colors that enhance the artist's work as well as reflect their character. Again, I work closely with the artist so that they are indeed happy with the effects.
MAINTENANCE: Web sites shouldn't be static. They should be updated on a regular basis to reflect the changing tone of the artist's work, share recent accomplishments, etc.
METATAGS & HIDDEN TEXT: Metatags with descriptions and keywords are inserted into the html code on each page, as well as text hidden behind photographs and page elements. These are used to provide web crawlers with information which helps gain site visibility during web searches.
REGISTRATION WITH SEARCH ENGINES: I provide registration with 10 of the top search engines. It's recommended that the site be re-registered on a regular basis in order to maintain a high profile with the search engines.
SECURE SITE / SHOPPING CART For those clients wishing to conduct secure E-Commerce, I offer a secure credit card transaction site, and can provide shopping carts or order forms to facilitate web sales.
ADDED BENEFITS: Once an individual's artwork is scanned and prepared, the digital files can be easily used to create brochures, business cards, post-cards.
